VENEZUELA and Colombia share the Secretary General of the Union of South American Nations (UNASUR) in the next two years.


Former Colombian Foreign Minister Maria Emma Mejia is the new secretary general for the period 2011-2012, while former Venezuelan Foreign Minister Ali Rodriguez will take over the period 2012-2013.


Mejia, who will take office in April, welcomed his appointment and highlighted the importance of happen to the emblematic Nestor Kirchner.
