German Genius feature films and documentaries will be shipped on board an airship, an adventure in the jungle of British Guyana. A landscape amidst woods and waterfalls that will consider the usual complexities of director
The April 3, 1993 was marked as the day the German documentary filmmaker Dieter Plage was killed in an accident when he was recording in the forests of Sumatra aboard an airship, called "The White Diamond." In trying to rescue his camera from the top of some trees, Dieter fell from the airship, meeting his death as a tragic consequence.
Twelve years after the famous filmmaker Werner Herzog decided to jump on a new prototype of the airship and repeat the idea of Plage trip, this time in the jungle of British Guyana. Thus was born the documentary "The White Diamond," which Infinity, the channel where truth is stranger than fiction, premieres Sunday March 20th at 11:30 pm
Through this new release of Infinite Docs may be how Werner Herzog in "THE WHITE DIAMOND" an excuse to reflect on the people, their concerns, their thoughts, their fantasies and fears, embarked on an aerial expedition, where he tries to reissue the trip years ago took the life of documentary German Dieter Plage.
Aboard a small prototype balloon, Herzog jungle of Guyana will fly recording every detail of the route, seeing and portraying the uncharted territory with his usual talent in this documentary.
"THE WHITE DIAMOND" also tells the story of British engineer Graham Dorrington, who built the small helium powered zeppelin that will be used to fly over the jungle of British Guyana, and failing to meet their desire to rise into the air.
But behind all this we find the tragedy that drags the protagonist of the story itself: Dorrington was who designed the device flying, twelve years ago, cost him his life in Sumatra his friend Dieter Plage.
During this trip, which comes as a sort of recovery of lost honor of the engineer Dorrington, Herzog is a series of amazing characters and landscapes of nightmare, which contain the memory of their predecessors and died in attempt. In the story adds the look of Mark Anthony Yhap, a native of the region Kaiethur Falls, who christened the airship as "The White Diamond."
"THE WHITE DIAMOND" a must-see documentary, with aerial views unpublished, which can be seen on Sunday March 20th at 11:30 pm, and will be repeated on Friday 26th, at 2:30 a.m.
